Referencing CARs and CAMs

The AD Toolbox has compiled all Civil Air Regulations (CARs) and Civil Aeronautics Manuals (CAMs)

These digitized copies of Civil Aeronautics Manuals were published from 1938 through 1962 by the US Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB). Established by the 1938 Civil Aeronautics Act, CAB responsibilities included safety rulemaking, accident investigation, and economic regulation of the airlines.

Civil Aeronautics Manual policies provide detailed technical information on acceptable methods of complying with the regulations. Such policies are for the guidance of the public and are not mandatory. Also of note - CAMs covering the certification of products should not be discarded by interested persons upon recodification, because the rules contained therein, and accompanying policies, will continue to apply to products which have been certificated thereunder (AC 20-33B).
