Looking up Aircraft Incident Reports
Search NTSB accident and incident reports from 1962 to present by state, date range, N-number, or model
The NTSB aviation accident database contains civil aviation accidents and selected incidents that occurred from 1962 to present within the United States, its territories and possessions, and in international waters. Foreign investigations in which the NTSB participated as an accredited representative will also be listed.
Users can search this database by date range, state of incident, N-number, aircraft make or model, and Non-TCDS aircraft (i.e., non-certificated aircraft such as Experimental and homebuilt aircraft ("EAB").
To search the database, click on the "Accident / Incident Reports" category on the lefthand navigational menu and select search type:
For example, if you wanted to search accidents for the Van's RV-10, you would click "Search by Non-TCDS Aircraft" and then type RV-10 and see each RV-10 list that shows up (sometimes the reports have multiple names for each type, i.e. "Van's RV-10" vs. "RV-10"):
Click on any of the reports to view the NTSB analysis, probable cause, any findings, pilot information, aircraft information, and weather information.
Searching by Make / Model can also be informative. For example, searching for incidents related to the CH-47D, which is finding its way from military back into civilian use, yields 2 incidents (as of October, 2024):
